In my experience with my Piano teacher Mrs. Nordling, I have found that she is an amazing teacher with a knack for making lessons exciting and engaging. She encourages you to use good practice habits and is very supporting of you during your lessons with her. During her lessons, she will begin by talking to you, seeing how you’re doing and talking about other musical things that you can do. She then goes on to have you play your songs that you practiced for her, helping you out in places where you may need it. She advises you on practice for certain songs or parts of them. She also plays a teacher duet with you when you have a song perfected. She is very good at tailoring things to your needs. Overall, she is a wonderful teacher who cares about her students and their learning very much.

Graham Thompson, 12 Edina piano student for 2 Years

Coreen has high expectations and a rigorous program, but is a very encouraging instructor. I have seen fast progress with her guidance and I know her curriculum is preparing me well for all my musical endeavors to come. I have made a fantastic connection with her and she has been very helpful with exploring options and activities outside of my school music program.

Brenna Akason, 16 Lakeville bassoon student for 3 years

Our son started piano lessons with Coreen Nordling about 2 years ago. Right away she was great with our 7 year old and asked only for 15 mins a day for practice time, which he does daily without being asked. He has really taken off in the past year, practicing even multiple times a day because he is enjoying the music.
Even during quarantine, we continued his weekly lessons via FaceTime! Our son does really well with this, angling the iPad so Coreen can see his fingers while he plays and he can see her hands playing as well. He has made a lot of progress during these past few months and we are all enjoying his music more than ever. Before this, her home was a lovely place for lessons, her grand piano in the front room, even a place for parents to wait or siblings to play.
Coreen is a great, gentle teacher for our son, and is a wonderful musician herself. We would happily recommend her as a music teacher for young students!

Thomas & Cathy Hahn parents

I stated playing bassoon in 8th grade and began taking lessons regularly with Coreen from 9th grade throughout my senior year. In addition to being a thorough and detailed instructor, she is an excellent bassoonist who would provide great demonstrations of sound, technique and intonation. She often gave me opportunities to see her perform with the Minnesota Opera. Coreen was always willing help me with music that I would bring to our lessons from school band, youth orchestra, etc. One of the most valuable lessons I learned for Coreen was that we play our instruments in order to communicate and express emotion. Being a student of Coreen’s helped me make substantial progress as a solo musician and also as a member of an orchestra throughout my high school career.

Geneva Anderson, 18 Edina bassoon student for 4 years

I began taking bassoon lessons from Coreen Nordling in 2016 as a ninth grade beginner, and have continued lessons into 2020. During my four years of lessons, Coreen pushed me to be the absolute best musician I could be. At my first lesson I had no idea how to put a bassoon together, and by my senior year I was performing in the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies Philharmonic orchestra. She is a very kind, supportive, and patient teacher who has taught me how to play the bassoon with excellent style and musicality. Coreen has not only been invaluable to me a music teacher, but also as a mentor who has guided me through the last few years and helped me look into the future both musically and personally.

Elisabeth Westgard, 18 Eagan bassoon student for 4 years

As my very first instructor, Coreen deftly guided me through the complex realm of bassoon playing and reed making. Without her patient dedication and extensive insight, I can confidently say that I would never have achieved my dream of becoming a full-time orchestral bassoonist. There is no bassoon teacher I can more highly recommend than Coreen Nordling.

Jeff Marquardt, Bergen Philharmonic (Norway)

When my parents hired Coreen, my first thought was, 'Why do I have to go to some strange person's house to learn piano?' I could tell when I went into her living room and played how kind she was and I felt supported to make mistakes without fear of being lectured. After two years of a lot of coaching, my skill and comfort have grown a bunch thanks to her.

Grant Zaslofsky piano student

I had a good feeling Coreen was going to be a great fit for my son because, besides coming highly recommended, she's playful in the best ways. Grant made quick, constant progress with her due to her deep knowledge, personalized instruction, and experience with all things piano. The financial value of Coreen's teaching is totally worth it … and your kid's going to grow in surprising ways in her skillful hands.
